It is one of the most unique and expressive articles I have seen on the subject, very well articulated and focused on the subject.
It is a question that has haunted me for a long time. In the end, I have come to conclude, that both of these approaches need to coexist for development of civilization. While one models the deterministic aspect of the universe, other models the chaotic behavior. Neither one is right or wrong. Both are so interrelated, that we can not demarcate them. To sum it up, science is a predefined set of inputs that produces predictable outputs while art is blend of many sciences to the extent that a similar set of inputs can produce completely different results based on factors that are affecting a phenomena non-linearly or sometimes even contradictorily. I guess that is how God chooses to manifest His wisdom.

I have been getting a ton of comments from friends about this post so I figured I better set the record straight :) This article was written about two years ago actually in response to a couple very bad experiences I had working for a friend who was very demanding. I have since done a bunch of small projects for pals including websites, wedding invites and the like and it has been great. I think it totally depends on the personality of the person you are doing the design for and you, Allen, have a great personality :)
